Resendiz Brothers 2020 Calendar

For the last twenty years we’ve designed and created our own special Resendiz Brothers calendar, which we proudly share with all our friends and family. The time spent crafting the calendar has become very special to us as it gives us the opportunity to reflect on the past twelve months while rummaging through fabulous photos to select our top thirteen favorites. The cover is usually a photograph that received quite a bit of attention during the year or reminds us of an important occasion, and this year's choice - was no exception. The remaining twelve photographs are thoughtfully placed in the calendar to represent the months when the proteas pictured are typically in bloom. Scroll on down and have a sneak peek at a few of our picks… they are a combination of arrangements, bouquets and wreaths!

Sometimes good things come to an end, so that better and greater things can begin. Bring on 2020!

What’s New: Resendiz Brothers Book

In the 19 years since Resendiz Brothers was launched, we’ve collected hundreds of amazing photographs of the fields and flowers we grow. Now, for the first time, we’ve gathered the very best of those pictures, some fascinating protea information and designing ideas into one place. All the pictures were taken by Mel and me, the text derived from our numerous blogs and the book’s composition by Paulette Sierra, our creative guru. This Protea guide captures the beauty and unique characteristics of the array genera, species and cultivars grown here in Southern California.

The book starts with a brief history of Protea in California and goes on to tell how Ismael ‘Mel’ was able to turns his passion for protea into a flourishing family farm. Protea, Leucospermum, Banksia, Leucadendron and several lesser known genera are beautifully featured along with a narrative on their characteristic and growth habits. There’s also information geared towards gardening requirements and planting -- watering, fertilization, and pruning. Spanning all four seasons with design ideas geared towards creating bouquets, arrangements and wreaths – this book provides an abundance of Protea inspiration throughout. Click here to order.

Flowers on Your Head

One of my favorite spring floral accessories is the flower crown or halo. There’s something very sensual and romantic about wearing flowers on your head. And, it’s not something that should be exclusive to weddings, they’re perfect for most any occasion - birthdays, baby showers, garden parties - the possibilities are endless.

There’s no doubt the floral crowns fashioned by our friend, Mud, for our Field to Vase Dinner were not your typical accessory but they were fun none the less. The gorgeous flower crown above filled with leucadedron, isopogon and serruria was just one of many flaunted by guests. “Flowers on Your Head” created a wonderful photo op that was quite entertaining, and in the end provided guests with a fabulous photo souvenir. Resendiz Brother’s 2017 Calendar

For the last sixteen years we have designed and created a special Resendiz Brothers calendar, which we proudly share with all our family and friends. The time spent crafting the calendar has also become very special to us as it gives us the opportunity to reflect on the past year, to rummage through twelve months of fabulous photos and select our top thirteen favorites. The cover is usually a photograph that received quite a bit of attention during the year, and this year's choice - was no exception (it even made the home page of our new website). The remaining twelve pictures are selected based on the month or holiday which they represent and hopefully, with Mother Nature's cooperation the flowers be in bloom and ready for harvesting around the same time. So, here’s the 2017 images – which include a special combination of arrangements, bouquets, field shots, wreaths and truck loads of flowers!

Check out our new website! With the love and attention Proteaceae and Australian natives have received over the last few years, we felt it was time for a change… plus, our fields have become home to so many new varieties of flora, we wanted give them a new home on the web as well. For the homepage we wanted to use more photos, so we gathered a bunch of our favorite truck and field shots – these images exemplify our spirit and passion for flower farming. We have many of these pictures hanging on the walls throughout the office and picked the ones we loved most, and our awesome web designer, Clement, put the site together.

We think the new website is awesome, hope you do too :)
