Falling for Pink Ice

Fields bursting with these vibrant, pink blooms is one of the best things about fall. Pink Ice is autumn to a 'T' and simply stunning! The goblet shaped flower is surrounded by fuzzy silvery-pink bracts that overlap and a beautiful rose-colored central dome with a splash of wine at the tip.

Pink Ice (a mix of P. Neriifolia x Susannae) is one of the hardiest and most abundant plants here on the farm! And… the bloom? It’s fabulous no matter how you arrange it. Stunning Spring Arrangements Using Seasonal Proteas

What's not to love about springtime gatherings? The weather, the natural settings, and the longer days are all major highlights, but the best part of the season may just be the abundance of florals in bloom. This, of course, applies to spring protea arrangements. There's something about an awe-inspiring centerpiece packed with in-season proteas that’s sure to attract all your guests’ attention and, of course be the talk of the table.

What’s the best part about proteas that come to life in the spring? Many are about as bountiful as it gets, especially the Leucopermum ‘Pincushions’ and Leucadendron…. which pretty much ensures that there's a suitable option for any color palette. You can find many of these proteas in vibrant hues, as evidenced by this arrangement; the mix features a gamut of shades, from the golden-peach hues of Leucopermum Brandi dela Cruz and the vibrant red Phil Parvin to the sweet buttery-cream bracts and red cones of Leucadendron Red Eye and the vivid purple Isopogon. This breathtking centerpiece speaks to the season and its array of possibilities.

June Gatherings

Everyone loves the laid-back days of summer… especially when they’re on a holiday… like Independence Day! The sounds, smells, textures and sights of summer fill the days and nights with feelings of joy and excitement.

If you are lucky enough to have a garden, potential flower arrangements to boost the ‘ambiance’ are just footsteps from your door. Otherwise, shops, roadside stands and farmers' markets are brimming with seasonal flowers to take home and enjoy.

Selecting and gathering your own flowers not only allows you to express your creative style, but they also bring the freshness and beauty of nature into your home. When you decorate with fresh flowers and foliage that reflect your unique personality, it makes for an unforgettable rendezvous that your guests will reminisce about for weeks.

Winter Gatherings

Have you ever watched a chef peruse his vegetable garden, getting excited while scrutinizing the fresh herbs and veggies that will later be used to create a fabulous meal? That's me with flowers. I'm most in my realm when I'm surrounded by seasonal blooms and foliage, visualizing the array of bouquets and arrangements I could create. Usually, I start by considering things like color, texture, shape and size when I’m picking flowers, and I never know what I’ll end up with until I’m finished!

In the case of this arrangement, I was immediately drawn to the vibrant winter colors of the Leucadendron contrasted with the sweet pink hues of the Protea and Grevillea. Since the Banksia Candles and Grevillea flowers were similar in texture, I added a few stems of Protea nitida to create a unique, exotic feel. Nitida also brings a new shape to the mix without veering to far from my chosen palette. Finally, the Banksia’s piney, green foliage complements both the Protea and Leucadendron’s texture injecting an organic looseness to the design. I'm enchanted with how it turned out, and even more importantly I had a wonderful time gathering the flowers and creating it!
