Serruria - Our 2013 Calendar Cover

This delicate and delightful bloom - Serruria, will grace the cover of our 2013 Resendiz Brothers Calender.  Serruria has always been one of our farvorite proteaceae, and this year we're hoping to see our first harvest.  There are over 44 species of Serruria with the popular" Blushing Bride" and" Pink n' Pink " being the most frequently requested varieties.  Over the last few months we've discovered this gorgeous bloom being mixed in hand-tied bouquets and even a dainty hairpiece.  Here are just a few of the wonderful pictures we've found:

Pick “Fresh”

Embrace the season to create simple, natural arrangements.

Autumn has a shimmering, saturated color palette, as seen in protea, banksia, grevillea and leucadendron and more…

So, next time you shop for flowers, ask where they came from and who grew them.

Buying “local” means your blooms will be fresher and last longer.  Enjoy!!!

We Thank Thee

For flowers that bloom about our feet;
For tender grass, so sweet;
For song of bird, and hum of bee;
For all Things fair we hear or see,
Father in heaven, we thank Thee!
For blue of stream and blue of sky;
For pleasant shade of branches high;
For fragrant air and cooling breeze;
For beauty of the blooming trees,
Father in heaven, we thank Thee!

Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803-1882)

Happy Thanksgiving from all of us here on the Farm!
