Falling for Pink Ice

Fields bursting with these vibrant, pink blooms is one of the best things about fall. Pink Ice is autumn to a 'T' and simply stunning! The goblet shaped flower is surrounded by fuzzy silvery-pink bracts that overlap and a beautiful rose-colored central dome with a splash of wine at the tip.

Pink Ice (a mix of P. Neriifolia x Susannae) is one of the hardiest and most abundant plants here on the farm! And… the bloom? It’s fabulous no matter how you arrange it. You'll love combining Pink Ice with an array of other seasonal flowers like amaranths, dahlias, zinnias plus, foliage like leucadendron, grevillea and eucalyptus. So, to celebrate the arrival of these beauties, I’m sharing a few of my pairings that will hopefully stir your creativity and get you 'falling' for Pink Ice too.

A shift in season = your reason to indulge in Pink Ice and set the TONE for Autumn!

In the Field: Protea Trish Compacta

Spring may be a long way off, but if you could use a winter pick-me-up right this minute, we have the perfect antidote. A gorgeous protea cultivar that’s certain to boost your spirits and take the chill out of a cold winter day.

Trish Compacta! Think Pink and so velvety soft (don’t you just want to reach out & feel those satiny petals?). This protea is a wonderful mix of compacta and laurifolia with the classic flawless-colored floral bracts in a rich pink (like compacta) and silvery-white highlights that surround the same pink colored center dome. Trish Compacta blooms winter through early spring… which means you should be enjoying them, umm right now!

When harvested and mixed with other proteas (and some textural Berzelia), there’s no doubt Trish Compacta delivers nature's best remedy to cure the winter blues.

'Tis the Season: Protea Pink Ice

There is something about autumn that seems to always set things into motion. And… if fall was a protea, Pink Ice would be that protea. They are autumn to a 'T' and simply stunning! The goblet shaped bloom is surrounded by fuzzy silvery-pink bracts that overlap and a beautiful rose-colored central dome with a splash of wine at the tip.

Protea Pink Ice, Neriifolia x Susannae, is one of the hardiest and most abundant plants here on the farm! And… the blooms? They’re fabulous no matter how you arrange them. I love mixing them with a variety of other flowers like roses, dahlias, zinnias, etc. or simply arranged all on their own. Here are few design ideas that will hopefully stir your creativity and get you 'falling' for Pink Ice!
