Creating a Festive Easter Arrangement
Creating a festive Easter arrangement is simple when you gear up for the holiday with spring’s best textures and tones - like Proteas, Australian wildflowers, and lush, greens. Your design should act as inspiration for your table settings and other floral arrangements on display in your home.
Some of my favorite Easter design ideas don't require a fancy vase— utilizing a clear glass container works just fine, especially when you add a whimsical touch by including some fresh produce or sweet treats from your local market or grocery store. These extra touches bring in a fresh element of color, texture and shape, and they’re often the recipe needed to transform designs from beautiful to festive, eye-catching and unique.
No matter how you pay homage to spring, these simple Easter arrangements will give you plenty of inspiration for your own holiday display.
This centerpiece plays up the vivid colors of heirloom carrots. You'll need them with their stems still attached and a clear vase to show off the roots. Pair the carrots with yellow and orange pincushions, leucadendron, and lush green foliage. Wash the carrots thoroughly (but don't peel them) so that the water in the vase stays clear.
Create a fresh spring bouquet by bundling asparagus stalks around a vase full of proteas and ranunculus.
Bring fresh fruit to your table with this dazzling centerpiece of protea, tulips and kumquats. Place a clear drinking glass or thin vase into the center of a large-mouth vase and stack the kumquats around the glass.
Celebrate the sweetness of spring with an Easter centerpiece that features seasonal proteas, boronia and leafy greens. Fill a large glass container with jellybeans, insert a small vase in the center, add water and your flowers.

California Bountiful
A wet winter here in California can only mean one thing. Well, scratch that. Not just one thing, it means a bounty of wonderful things for nature. For years, this state has endured such severe dry spells that crops wither, flowers bloom erratically, fruit trees sit barren, streams dry up, and neighbors traded in their lawns for cactus, rocks and cement. But this year, California is receiving more precipitation than normal, and the results are simply glorious. Not only are some drought effects reversing, but wildflowers are starting to bloom on hillsides creating a carpet of color… truly a beautiful sight!
That being said… we’re also seeing some fabulous floral sights here in the hills of Rainbow. The season's colorful leucadendron along with bright leucospermum, gorgeous protea, textural banksia and frilly Australian wildflowers provide a feast for the eyes.

Leucadendron Maui Sunset
Waxflower Purple Gem and Jenny
Leucospermum Phil Parvin
Banksia Menziesii
Leucadendron Gold Strike
Protea Grandicolor
Best of all, when these gorgeous flowers are mixed into a bouquet or tucked into an arrangement, they are simply ‘Breathtaking’!

BeBe and Farmer Protea Wedding Inspiration
You KNOW how much we love growing proteas! Well, we couldn’t be more excited to share some homegrown protea wedding inspiration with you. Mel and I got to be on several sides of the wedding fence this month when our friends, Mud Baron and BeBe Lerner tied the knot at the Highland Springs Ranch in the Cherry Valley. Farmer (aka Mud) said they wanted proteas in their wedding but when asked to create the bridal bouquets and centerpieces for the reception, we were thrilled. It’s not too often we get the opportunity to attend a wedding (Mel a groomsmen) and enjoy the flowers we grow and also arranged on the farm.
Let’s just say that, for a farmer who loves proteas, I was in heaven and OMG… that arch! I just love the way this wedding combined the elements of soft and strong – protea, berzelia and Australian wildflowers mixed with the dreamiest of fabrics in hues of pink and white, contrasting with silver place settings. For me, it was the perfect representation of the flowers we’re so passionate about growing!
Fun was a huge hallmark of this wedding day. Like groom - Farmer told Mel not to take his ‘wedding attire’ too seriously… only be sure to wear his hat, I got the impression that neither did the bride and groom, and everything about their big day was playful. From a witty Hawaiian dressed minister, to Bebe’s dogs, Bob and Ben, at her side and Mud’s dog, Patsy playing catch on the dance floor, it was an evening full of fun.
