A Circle of Life

Rings of fresh flowers and greens have traditionally be used as a symbol of hospitality, love, protection and life itself. Time-honored gesture is renewed every year when wreaths are hung to welcome friends and family during the festive holiday season. So, in honor of the New Year - 2012, we created a special wreath to celebrate the flowers and foliage that are important to us. This gorgeous 48" circle of life was created with over 80 protea, leucadendron and seeded eucalyptus.

Our special way of "ringing" in this New Year! Here's a closer peak at some of the flowers and foliage weaved into this circle.

Dance into the New Year with this Vivacious and Appealing Reddish Orange

The 2011 color of the year, PANTONE 18-2120 Honeysuckle, encouraged us to face everyday troubles with verve and vigor. Tangerine Tango, a spirited reddish orange, continues to provide the energy boost we need to recharge and move forward.

“Sophisticated but at the same time dramatic and seductive, Tangerine Tango is an orange with a lot of depth to it,” said Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute®. “Reminiscent of the radiant shadings of a sunset, Tangerine Tango marries the vivaciousness and adrenaline rush of red with the friendliness and warmth of yellow, to form a high-visibility, magnetic hue that emanates heat and energy.”

Orange is a great accent color. Its cheerful vibrancy demands attention, and instantly warms and enlivens any setting. Even at great distances, orange stands out - a 'Hey, look at me!' color. In spring, our orange flowers are fresh and cheerful - here are just a few of our favorites - Enjoy!

Resendiz Brothers 2012 Calendar

For the last ten years we have been designing and creating our own Resendiz Brothers calendar, which we have proudly shared with all our friends, family and customers. The time spent creating these calendars has also become very special to us as it gives us the opportunity to reflect on the past year, to rummage through twelve months of photographs and select our thirteen favorite pictures. The cover pictures always turns out to be the photograph which seemed to draw the most attention during the year, and this year's choice did just that! The remaining twelve pictures are intentionally selected to represent the month in which they are displayed and hopefully, with Mother Nature's cooperation, these flowers and foliage with be in bloom and ready for harvesting during that time. So, today we wanted to share our 2012 calendar photographs - a special combination of arrangements, bouquets, field shots, truck loads of flowers and a holiday wreath - Enjoy!

Protea Fields in Bloom

Autumn is the time of the year when the majority of our protea plants are in bloom. It is a beautiful time of the year, the fields full of pink, red and green tones. It's also a quiet time of the year for many of the other varieties of flowers we grow such as pincushion, waxflower, leptospermum, calycina - all at rest waiting for that first hint of spring! So for a moment, let's take a look at the protea fields in bloom and enjoy the beauty, as the season is changing and so will our fields! Enjoy!!!!

Celebrating with Protea

Over the next few weeks, as Holiday Celebrations are taking place throughout the world, I am reminded of a trip I took to South Africa several years ago. Why does this Holiday Season bring South Africa to mind? Well, during my visit I had the opportunity to tour several protea farms and attend the International Protea Association Convention. I enjoyed several luncheons that were graciously hosted by Flowers Farmers and an elegant final dinner. The food and wine were an abundance of savory delights, especially the wines which South Africa is known for! However, Protea is also a South African favorite - the King Protea is their national flower! Each event I attended was creatively decorated with an array of beautiful protea fresh from the fields. So now as we begin our Holiday Celebrations, I want to share some of the decor I saw during my trip with the hope that they may inspire you to make protea part of your celebrations - Enjoy!

Hope your Holiday Celebrations are Extra Special!!!

Holiday Décor

The Holiday Season is in full swing, and as Thanksgiving approaches, more emphasis is placed on the importance of color and texture. When we think of this time of year, we often think of the traditional colors - red, orange, yellow and white. While these colors may work for some, others may prefer a little variation – magenta, scarlet, burgundy, pink, coral, persimmon, emerald green and cream. Many of the protea and banksia we are harvesting right now can be found in these rich shades and they have such wonderful textures too! Here are some of our favorite Holiday Decorations – each one with its own unique composition of color, texture and glorious abundance!
